I hold an MA in Play Therapy from the University of Roehampton. I take a child-centred approach , which means I hold the child’s needs central to the therapeutic process and generally work in a non-directive way following the child’s lead. I provide a safe and playful space that is conducive for children to explore their thoughts and feelings in a way that feels appropriate for them, which enables them to make sense of their felt experience. This can result in improved behaviour, increased capacity for emotional regulation, and enhanced self-esteem. I provide a warm, open and understanding service for parents and caregivers where they can be heard and supported throughout their child’s therapeutic process.
Since relocating to Belfast, Northern Ireland, I have worked within a trauma charity supporting children and young adults who have experienced developmental trauma. Prior to this I lived and worked as a therapist in London for the NHS, charity settings and in primary schools. I have therapeutic experience in areas including trauma, bereavement, separation, selective mutism, domestic abuse, family breakdown, autism spectrum condition, developmental delay, family dysfunction, attachment difficulties, self-harm and anxiety. Prior to practicing as a play therapist, I worked in primary schools and nurseries and have special needs experience. I volunteered with London based a charity for a number of years working with families from marginalised groups. I also worked in charity summer camps with children who are living with life-limiting conditions.
